The Curlicued Oboe was made by Lauca for Carmilla. Unlike a standard oboe the Curlicued Oboe's length is twisted and curves back on itself, finishing with a wide, flared bell-end. There are no metal keys, instead, the length of the body is dotted with smooth holes, requiring unusual dexterity to play. The Curlicued Oboe's function is to trap and transport souls, only releasing them to speak when played, but Carmilla realises that she can nail her shadow to the instrument and use it as a messenger.
